Church news:

Adult Sunday School class: We are going through a study on the Acts of Worship reviewing Psalms, Daniel, Matthew, Luke, John, Ephesians, Hebrews and James using the Standard Lesson Commentary. Martha and Jerry Dove are our leaders. Please come as we read through the Bible and find application from its lessons for our daily lives. Sunday School starts at 9:45 a.m. Children’s class is available.

Congregational Meeting Jan 18Please make plans to stay after the worship service; we will be electing elders for 2015, a delegate to serve at the 66th Unity of the Brethren Convention in July and annual reports will be given. Those interested in running for Church Elder and/or convention delegate should contact Joe Ripple. The deadline to have your name on the ballot is Sunday, Jan 4. Nominations will also be accepted at the meeting on Jan 18. This year, we will be electing 3 Elders to the board to serve 2-year terms. There are no term limits. To be eligible for the Board of Elders you must be at least 21 years of age and he or she must be an active member of the Church for at least one year and be in good standing.

From the Elders: Plans are being made for the 4-church fellowship. It will be held at the Industry Brethren Church on Feb 28. There will be a worship and praise service at 3:00 p.m. followed by a meal. More information will be announced soon. Everyone is invited to attend. We will gather with our fellow Brethren from Nelsonville, Wesley and Industry! Come enjoy the fellowship! As always, if you have any comments, concerns or suggestions please let the Elders know.

The Christian Sisters’ Society:  The Christian Sisters’ are selling raffle tickets; if you would like to buy some, please contact any of the members. Members plan to sell tickets in front of Fayetteville Bank on Saturday Feb 7 from 9 – 11, volunteers are welcome to come and help sell tickets. All raffle tickets sold need to be turned in to Liz. The drawing will be held at the Fundraiser on Saturday, February 14 at the Old Fire Station on the square in Fayetteville. Beginning at 7 a.m. breakfast tacos will be sold. There will also be a bake sale and country store. Members and friends are asked to bring your baked items to the fire station on Saturday by 7 a.m. If you have something for the country store, you may bring it to the church before Sunday, Feb 8. New and homemade
items are being accepted. A worksheet will be in the foyer for volunteers to sign up to help set up on Friday (Feb 13) and to work on Saturday morning.

The next meeting will be on March 1. At this meeting, an election will be held for the un-expired term of President (2014-2016), Secretary (2015-2017) and Treasurer (2015-2017). If you would like to join the Christian Sisters’ Society, please contact Martha Dove or Liz Ripple. Dues are $20 and are payable until January 25 for 2015. You do not have to be a member of the church to join.

Lap quilt project – Several members from Fayetteville Brethren, 2 from Industry Brethren, some friends and Pastor Kay gathered in the fellowship hall to sew 4 lap quilts. Ann Heintschel was in charge of the project which included cutting, sewing and pressing pieces of material to make the quilt tops. A flannel backing was added and tacked with yarn. The group met on Nov 5, 12 & 19 from 9 am to 12. The quilts were blessed during the worship service on Dec 7. Those receiving the quilts were very pleased with them and appreciated all the effort that went into this project. Lap quilts were made for Lillian Blinka, Barbara Roesler, Mary Hoff and Frances Dove. Thank you to all those who participated in this project! It is a true blessing for all involved.

Collecting supplies for the military: Everyone is asked to collect the following items that will be sent from our church Christian Sisters group to an individual serving in the military: non-aerosol deodorant, non-aerosol bug spray, flea collars, baby wipes, razors, Visine, hand sanitizer, sinus/allergy medicine, Advil, Tylenol, lip balm and foot care products. Snacks are always good. no candy or snacks that will melt in the heat over there. Personal size packets of tissue, band aids, instant drink mixes, q-tips, pens, paper, envelopes, seeds/nuts, trail mix, disposable cameras, batteris sizes AA, AAA, C and D and LETTERS/CARDS of encouragement. Smaller sizes are easier to ship and for individuals to carry. Please put your donations in the box in the church foyer. Questions? – please contact Pauline Ott.
