Board of Elders Report: The Elders have met with Rev Kay Polasek and negotiated salary terms and a housing allowance, vacation, days off, getting substitutes when needed and writing newsletter articles for the monthly newsletter. Everyone is looking forward to a long productive relationship with Pastor Kay. There will be an installation service on Dec 4 during the worship service with a shared potluck lunch with Industry Brethren. In other business, the Elders approved all active members to receive the Brethren Journal for 2012, voted to cancel Christmas Day service, voted to give a monetary donation to Industry Brethren for having the 4-church Elders meetings and to have Sunday worship services start at 10:45 a.m. starting in January 2012. The next Elders meeting is Sunday, Dec. 11. If you have any comments or concerns, please let the Elders know.
8th Progressive Christmas Dinner: The date for our 8th annual Progressive Christmas Dinner is Saturday, December 10. At the home of Pauline & David Ott from 5:00 to 6:45 we will have heavy appetizers and Hors d'oeuvre's; then at Liz & Joe Ripple from 7 pm to 8:30 desserts and singing of Christmas carols. Mark your calendar as you will not want to miss the fun and food! Please see the sign up poster for food and to indicate your attendance.
Sunday School – The Adult class will have special Advent readings each Sunday in Dec. The 2nd Sunday is on Hope; 3rd – Joy; 4th – Love. Please join us!
The Christian Sisters' Society: The Christian Sister's met on Nov 13 with 6 members present. As part of the devotional, everyone said what they are thankful for. A large box of canned food was delivered to the AMEN food pantry by Barbara Arambula. Items are being collected for the Feb raffle; tickets will be available for selling in December. The drawing will be held on Feb 11 at the fundraiser. It was decided to make a donation to the Community Combined Action to help support a needy family. We had a very successful collection of shoe boxes this year. A total of 40 shoe boxes – filled with useful items and toys for children - were collected for Operation Christmas Child. Kathy Miller-Voshalike was the chairman of this project. Sandra would check into visiting a nursing home. It was decided to not have a retreat in January. There will not be a meeting in December or January; the next meeting will in February. If you would like to join the Christian Sisters' Society, please contact Martha Dove or Liz Ripple. Dues are $20 and are payable now for 2012. You do not have to be a member of the church to join. |
